Jeeja Janin, born on March 31, 1984, is a female actress in Thailand and expert in martial arts holding a 3rd Dan black belt in Taekwondo. Otherwise known as Yanin Vismitananda and Jija Yanin, she was born to wonderful parents namely Prasita Vismitananda (mother) and Pawadol Borirak (father). However, her older brother Nantapong “Jeed” Vismitananda and Jeeja were left with their mother at the age of 17 when their businessman father passed away.

Her career started in 2003 when she showcased her exceptional skills to audition for a supporting role in a film. That was when the prominent martial arts director in Thailand Prachya Pinkaew discovered her talent. No wonder, the Thai director dedicated a part of the script to demonstrate her impressively choreographed skills. The 162 cm-tall Thai is presently regarded as one of the most popular female martial artists of the century together with Angela Mao, Yukari Oshima, Michelle Yeoh, Kara Hui and Moon Lee.

Many martial arts fans entitled Jeeja as Tony Jaa’s female counterpart for her exquisite skills in performing stunts and special fight scenes in martial arts films. When asked by the public on her take of being Jaa’s counterpart, she humbly replied that she highly respects Jaa for being a good mentor and trainer to her; and that he is still way better than her.

Another impressive thing she performed was the series of moves a little similar to Jackie Chan’s Rumble in the Bronx on one of the combat scenes in the movie Chocolate. The fans’ assumption was eventually supported when she performed a move comparable to Chan’s Drunken Master in her Raging Phoenix  film. Jeeja gained the spotlight since 2008 when she starred in Chocolate, which also resulted to succeeding lead roles in action movies such as Raging Phoenix during the same year then The Kick and Jak Ka Ran in 2011.

Aside from her expertise in Taekwondo, Jeeja is also well accustomed with Muay Thai, which uses knees, elbows and kicks for offense and defense. Mortal Kombat, The Godfather and Always: Sunset On The Third Street were just a few of her favorite all-time films.

Eventually, Jeeja tied the knot with Thai singer Pamela Bowden’s younger brother Andrian Robert Bowden and announced her fifth month of pregnancy last August 29, 2012. The announcement came together with her decision to pause for a while from martial arts industry for the next two years to focus on her family life. She later on gave birth to a healthy baby boy on January 22, 2013 and named him Jayden Bowden Vismitananda
