Wu Jing is a talented martial artist and actor that does not get the respect that he deserves
Wu Jing, otherwise known as Jacky Wu or Jing Wu, was born in Beijing, China on April 3, 1974. He is a Chinese martial artist, movie director and actor. He is best known for his role playing Hawk man or Jackie in the film Tai Chi Boxer of 1996 and Kong Ko from the film Fatal Contact. When Wu Jing was only six years old he was sent to the Beijing Sports Institute at Shichahai for training as Jing’s father and grandfather were both martial artists. He competed in the Beijing Wushu Team and won first place in a number of national level wushu competitions at the junior level and he continued to compete even when he was an adult.
In 1995 he was noticed by Yuen Woo-Ping who was a martial arts choreographer that came to look for a martial artist for his film Tai Chi 2 (aka Tai Chi Boxer). Wu Jing then played in his first Hong Kong film debut, as Hawk man/Jackie in the 1996 film Tai Chi Boxer. Since then Wu Jing has been in several Chinese wuxia television series between 1997 and 2005. He worked with Lau Kar-leung, a choreographer and director in the 2003 film Drunken Monkey. His dedication and skills earned him respect all over East Asia; he often contributed to the scripts and choreography in the films that he stared in. He was very successful in Hong Kong action cinemas for the role that he played in the 2005 film SPL: Sha Po Lang. The iconic blonde haired assassin that faced of in a spectacular fight against Donnie Yen.
After his role in several films Jing Wu began directing in March 2008 on his film Legendary Assassin with Nicky Li, the action choreographer. Jing Wu was a volunteer for the One Foundation and assisted in the Sichuan Earthquake in May 2008. Throughout the earthquake affected areas he carried out relief work with other One Foundation volunteers and Dreamboat manager Yao Guozhi. They helped the victims affected by bringing them the basic necessities and goodies for the children. Jing Wu played his first American film role, alongside Brendan Fraser and Jet Li in the 2008 film The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
In 2013 Wu Jing married Xie Nan. He is now currently working as a director on the impending, Wolf War, which is a Hong Kong action war film. He also stars in this movie along side Scott Adkins – exciting! And he will continue his role in the new 2015 Hong Kong action film SPL: Sha Po Lang II, also featuring Tony Jaa.
So to recap he has been in movies with Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung and will also work along side Scott Adkins and Tony Jaa.
