Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar is a great workout tool for any home. It’s easy to assemble and straightforward to use.
In the past I’ve used bars that need a plate drilled into both sides of the door frame which isn’t ideal. Also, given that they are positioned within the doorframe, need to be positioned about a foot from the top of the door to allow for additional headspace. This of course means less leg room. The Iron Gym total upper body workout bar fits around the top and sides of the door frame so that the handles are further out from the door frame itself. This allows for extra headroom and so a better range of motion. Another advantage is that Iron Gym’s total upper body workout bar has more grip positions. It can also be easily removed from the door and used for push ups (to allow for deeper movement than the normal push up).
Mine is attached to a door frame in my apartment almost 24-7, so using it has become my everyday routine. Some days I’ll do x amount of chin ups every time I pass it, others I’ll do front lever, leg raises etc. I rarely use it for push ups, that’s not to say it isn’t good for that purpose, but I prefer to do plyometric push ups so this kind of equipment isn’t suitable. It’s also great for stretching, there are many benefits from just hanging from a bar, such as spinal decompression and posture correction. I’ve made this part of my morning routine and highly recommend it.
Iron Gym’s total upper body workout bar is a solid piece of equipment. I’ve had mine almost three years and aside from a bit of wear to the foam handles that cushion the weight on the door it’s as good as the day I bought it. If you do decide to buy it, please make sure you have a door frame that’s solid enough to support your weight. I also check every few months to see if the bolts have loosened (usually they haven’t). This kind of maintenance is important particularly if you want to do front and back levers etc.
I rate Iron Gym’s total upper body workout bar a 4 out of 5. It’s cheap, easy to use and multifunctional. It also causes no damage to the door frame and can be easily removed when needed.
